freudian slips?
ok, lately bobby and i seem to be dancing around an issue that we're both a little too wary to talk about. that issue is the timeless issue that all couples deal with: love. are we in love? are we headed that way? are we serious about this? if i feel it, does he? if he feels it, do i?
apparently, the issue keeps surfacing in our mutual "freudian slips" (ugh...thats what i get for dating a psych major)
first, there was the phone call during spring break. i was driving aimlessly and talking to bobby on my hands free device so that i don't get a ridiculously high ticket. anyway, the reception tends to filter in and out as i drive so sometimes i don't understand what he's saying. so he says something that sounds like "i... lubvuv...you". so i asked him to repeat...and it sounded like that again. so then i asked "you love me?" i was naturally surprised because i know that we both are wary of that word because of past relationships and i knew there was no way he would have been saying it so early in our relationship. then he laughed and told me not to "freudian slip". he said i was hearing what i wanted to hear from him...I WAS JUST TRYING TO CLARIFY! ugh.
then, we were hanging out in his room and he was jokingly flicking my to try and annoy me. so i was mimicking a part for a tv show where a girl is complaining about her husband. but i was changing the "husband" parts to "boyfriend" but what it ended up sounding like (since i was so focused on what the words were in the part) was "my husb--er--boyfriend..." and it just disolved in to giggles because we both noticed my slip up. so annoying! he was like "freudian slip!!" i naturally argued back that i was just trying to immitate a part from a show, but he was like "no, its true! you see me as a potential hubby". which is true. i do see him as a potential future husband but i try to picture the future with every guy i date. it wasn't conscious!
finally, it was his turn for a good old "freudian slip". we were laying bed (haha, nothing scandalous...i was staying over because my roommate had friends visiting and needed the space), and he says "goodnight love". then there is a pause and he says "i mean, lover". i started laughing and teasing him about his freudian slip. he denies it but i'm pretty sure he's said that before too, the "love" part.
ugh.
in other news, his mom was supposed to come up this weekend and i was all excited about meeting her but she ended up not coming. i was freaked out though cause i wanted to have finished her scarf by the time she came so i was working NON-STOP on the never ending scarf. i'm still not done but at least i have more time now!
