SPRING BREAK!
wow so i realized, with some help from readers lol, that i hadn't updated in FOREVER!! so, spring break seems like a very good subject to update about!
sooooooooo for spring break, i drove up to rochester with tyler to pack up all his things and move him to boston, well actually Lowell MA, about 30 minutes drive from boston.
so, here's the breakdown!
Friday, March 3rd:
- tyler arrives back in VA with his old car, a honda del sol, to meet up with his dad at their condo.
- his dad had flown back from Russia to buy him a new honda CRV and get the insurance and registration all in order
- i stayed at UVA for the night because i wasn't headed up to northern VA until saturday.
- this was because i couldn't stay with tyler (since his dad was there lol) and so i didn't want to impose on people
Saturday, March 4th:
- i drove up to nova and met up with Lauren, who's house i was staying at for the next two days
- that night we went to dinner with tyler at the MOST DELICIOUS SUSHI PLACE EVER
- tyler and i always go to that restaurant because its honestly the best food and has really great prices. also, sushi has a special place in our relationship because we would go to a sushi restaurant in moscow with all our friends back before we were dating. i had never really tried sushi before i met tyler so that is also pretty special. mmmmmm love those tuna rolls. lol
Sunday, March 5th:
- i'm still at lauren's house at this point and her parents, who have been on vacation with friends in colorado, are coming home tonight so that was nice to get to see them.
- lauren's uncle Tom came over and made food for lauren and her two brothers while i went to dinner at this tasty thai restaurant with tyler and his dad... it was really good food and his dad is really nice
Monday, March 6th:
- today we headed out to Rochester!
- its a seven and a half hour drive up there so we had lots of time to just enjoy being together.
- i know that sounds strange but for anyone in a long distance relationship, you know how wonderful it feels to just sit together, either talking or quiet, and enjoying each other's presence. its really special
- we left at 730 am and got to rochester by early afternoon, in time to go get the self-storage stuff sorted out.
- that night we defrosted his refrigerator (my job lol) and packed up his last little things (his job lol)
- we took his bike, fridge and some other little things, like boxes of books to the self storage place and loaded it all up.
- after dinner we headed to bed cause it had been a really long day. we planned to wake up at 6, pack the car by 9, and hit the road since we had to get to his new apartment by 430 pm to sign the lease and get the keys.
Tuesday, March 7th:
- today was the day we were SUPPOSED to leave Rochester... needless to say, it didn't happen.
- we were too tired from the day before and decided to take the day to pack the car, and thank goodness we did!
- we ended up having to take two more trips to the self storage place to drop off stuff because we realized we didn't have enough room. (actually, i had long since realized this and suggested a UHaul, which he refused to do... so yea...)
- finally got everything packed and the futon tied to the roof and so the car was ready.
- we slept on the floor, thank goodness for all of tyler's blankets! we actually made a comfy bed. well, any bed is comfortable to me with tyler in it! haha
Wednesday, March 8th:
- we headed out for boston!
- we got there around 4 and had plenty of time to sign the lease and get the keys since the office is actually open until 6.
- his new apartment is really nice. its a studio and has this really great geometric ceiling with a skylight and everything! and such a cute little kitchen!
- anyway, we moved him in and then headed out to get groceries and other little tidbits.
- we had to go to New Hampshire which has the closest mall. its not as far as it sounds, only 15-20 minutes away and is literally the biggest mall i've ever seen. its ridiculous!
- so we got groceries and made a tasty dinner :)
Thursday, March 9th:
- we spent most of the day organizing his new place and unpacking
- then we took some practice drives to his new office at Goodrich. its only about 7 minutes away and he has four different routes he could take so its a really great situation. which is why he decided to live out there instead of in boston itself. also, there are four other RIT guys on co-op at Goodrich now and two of them moved into tyler's apartment complex too so he has friends nearby.
- we also spent some time driving around and exploring Lowell.
Friday, March 10th:
- finally the internet company was able to get to us to install highspeed. that was of course awesome to be back in touch with the world!
- we then headed out to find him a new desk chair, since the old one had to be left in rochester. so it was back to new hampshire we went!
- then we stopped by the grocery store again to pick up some last minute things and then headed home for a relaxing night of good food and good movies :)
Saturday, March 11th:
- my last day in lowell :( i left at 7pm it was very sad all around
- but we made the most of it with a relaxing day and some good laughs on the way to the airport as i took a bunch of silly pictures :)
- i spent the night at sylvie's house. she and liz, two of my best friends in the world (along with lauren of course), were both there because they were headed down to the dominican republic to visit our friend Tim who is there for the semester. i'm so jealous! i would love to go on spring break with them but our breaks were at different times. so it was fun to get to just hang out and talk like we always have :)
Sunday, March 12th:
- sylvie and liz had to leave at 5 am so i said bye and went back to sleep. at 10 i got up and got ready to drive down to UVA.
- after a quick breakfast, i said goodbye to Brigette and Marc (sylvie's parents who are practically family) and drove down.
it was such a great break. i got to see all three of my closest friends and spend nearly a week with my boyfriend. and i got to see what is waiting for me in the future. for example, it was really nice to be able to go through all the steps of moving with tyler because it shows me what i will have to go through when i finish college... its kind of scary to think that that isn't very far away... but i'm glad i got to see it all first hand and especially with someone as wonderful as tyler. he's just so steady and can handle anything life throws at him... its very impressive :)
thats all for now, watching the old version of charlie and the chocolate factory... I LOVE IT lol
